About Me
I’m a Portrait and Urban/Landscape Artist living in the lower Hudson Valley in New York, and in an historic waterman’s town, Onancock on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
A recovering Visual & User Experience Designer, I have had a rewarding and satisfying career in the endless creative opportunities in New York City. Most recently I was running the experience design group at Ascensia Diabetes Care, conducting end user research, designing applications that connected to glucose sensors to enable people with Diabetes to monitor their status in real-time. Prior to this I held roles as Corporate Vice President of UX strategy and Design at New York Life Insurance, Associate Director of Creative Services at AIG, Associate Creative Director for FCB, and Creative Director for HomeArts, directing design for Hearst Publishing‘s digital magazines.
Prior to these formal roles, I was a freelance illustrator and designer for nearly 20 years, creating art for NYC’s many book publishers, magazines, and advertising agencies. Digital took me away from traditional media for the next 20 years, but I have now returned.
My background began in Graphic Design and Visual Storytelling, and my interests have grown to encompass Brand Experience, User Experience, Usability, Engagement Strategy and Digital Marketing. I have used those skills in leading teams to deliver well researched, elegantly designed, highly engaging, and award-winning online experiences to world-class global brands.

Diversions from Digital
My traditional illustrations & portraits have been primarily watercolor, with occasional forays into mixed media, acrylic, and oil. I have provided work to many of New York's Publishing Houses (cover art & textbook illustration), Magazines (including 2 covers for Forbes) and Advertising Agencies.
As far as my life outside of the work, I love travel and recreational reading when I can. More usually I can be found painting landscapes and portraits, hiking & photographing the beautiful Hudson Valley, and making various experimental sauces, powders, and dry-rubs from my backyard hot pepper patch. Currently, I am experimenting with a Hickory-Smoked Ghost Pepper, Garlic & Onion powder (samples are available on request and at your own risk).
